Offering responsible products, manufactured locally with sustainable materials, is essentially a choice.
Since our beginnings, we’ve sought to develop sustainable solutions in order to minimise our carbon footprint at all levels: from the choice of materials and our partners to the reuse of parts.
Limiting waste or making it possible for it to be recycled
Reducing the carbon footprint of filming
Extending the life of products
In our manufacturing processes and the life cycle of our products: no obsolescence or unnecessary waste. Our workshop has more than 300 spare parts to repair (almost) everything. Equipment that's too worn out to return to the shoots is sold at low prices or given to associations.
We were the first to think of offering a completely green coffee break, first by reintroducing coffee beans, then by providing recycling for the used coffee grounds. Today, this offer extends to the free recycling of all your food waste, batteries, glass and electronic waste.
We are meticulous in choosing the suppliers of our products and our materials in consideration of their origin (we always favour those made in France) and the environmental impact of their production methods as well as those of their components (transport, sustainability, energy quality).
NESTOR works, whenever possible, in partnership with other actors committed to the protection and promotion of the environment:
ECOPROD CHARTER (2020) : NESTOR joined ECOPROD’s charter in 2020. This charter aims at the gradual adoption of an eco-friendly approach in the cinema and audiovisual sector.
This charter allows us to keep tabs on our ecological actions and encourages us to always go further, but it also guarantees that we’re doing our best to put in place concrete, long-lasting measures, up to the moral requirement that we’ve set ourselves.
LES ALCHIMISTES (2019) : For the recycling of organic waste, we work with Les Alchimistes, a socially responsible company who takes care of the collection and composting of urban bio-waste, collected locally.
Focussing first of all on reprocessing coffee grounds, we expanded our partnership at the start of 2020 to offer the recovery and reprocessing of food waste from canteens.
Thanks to this partnership, we’ve reprocessed more than 3 tonnes of organic waste from January to July 2021!
ECOSYSTEM : NESTOR is a member of the ECOSYSTEM network, a non-profit eco-organisation in charge of collecting and recycling used bulbs from the reprocessing of electronic waste. Bins are at your disposal in our premises to collect your exhausted devices. If we’re unable to fix them, they will be taken care of.
BATRIBOX : NESTOR uses the service of the Batribox eco-organisation for recycling used batteries. It’s the little blue container next to the brown bin for coffee grounds. You can leave all kinds of batteries in there.
Established in Seine-Saint-Denis since our origins, we seek to have a positive local footprint.
With this in mind, at the start of 2020, NESTOR joined the business club “La Seine-Saint-Denis, one shot: businesses get involved!” It brings together organisations that want to promote the inclusion of people on the margins of employment (ex-prisoners, refugees, out-of-school children, etc.). Our goal: to open up jobs for these groups as a priority, while offering wider opportunities for training and advancement within the company.
The company also works in partnership with local agencies for the recruitment of its employees and with local associations for the donation of leftover food generated by shoots.
In addition, we’ve chosen to limit the use of subcontractors as much as possible: this allows us to ensure that all the people we employ benefit from a secure working environment, from a caring atmosphere that allows everyone to develop their potential.
